I don't understand why anyone would buy an un-id item other than it might have the same gambling satisfaction opening the chests has. If faction is easily accumulated why would someone spend money on un-id items?

I bought a gold req 8 fellblade for 25k knowing that they sell more than that just for undi. I was tempted to id it but relized the chances of getting something good are very slim. So i took it outside ascalon. I would attack and do 6-9 damage, then let them get me under 50% and I only did 4-6 damage. I id'd it and it was a 14 over 50! So this helps alot in the undi market.

I completely don't understand this statement.

As described in the first post, the ONLY thing that this is good for identifying is whether a weapon or shield has a health or energy mod associated with it.

Generally, for a weapon, you AREN'T buying the weapon hoping for a fortitude mod on it. Those are easily replaceable anyway.

You are hoping for a damage mod (i.e. 15% always or 15%>50% health), and that is NOT easily testible on an unidentified weapon.

Regarding the vampiric, you CAN tell that one exists, but again it is relatively difficult to tell whether it is a crappy vampiric (1/1, for example) versus a max vampiric (5/1 or 3/1) without taking some decent time in testing it on monsters.

In the end, I think that "pretesting" unidentified weapons is really only useful for caster weapons (to determine if it has the coveted +energy mods) and shields.

And for shields, it doesn't severely affect the value since those shields without health bonuses may be dual modded (e.g. -2 which enchanted/-2 in a stance), which are very expensive nowadays. And those shields with a single health mod aren't worth nearly as much as they used to be (and in many instances are worth just as much as the unidentified price).

So, in the end, I can't see how selling an unidentified item that you've pretested can be considered "a scam". I also can't see why people buying unidentified items can be considered ignorant. It's a valid market, with a ton of risk and reward associated with it. I know that I have been on both ends of these transactions, with both good and bad consequences when the identification played out.

I got a perfect stormbow for 40k unid, it was great. I kept thanking the seller over and over, he just laughed. If I get a gold chaos axe low req I sell unid. I think its great way to sell. Who cares about a health mod, the damge bonus is whats key. It also gives the buyer a chance for a great bargin if he is lucky and the seller a set average price. I think its a fun gamble to buy unid, but dont over do it, once in a while is enough, cause its still a gamble and you can lose gold and thats no fun.

You can test for damage mod easy. Just take it ouside ascalon and attack something and observe the hightest and lowest and the crits, then let them get you under 50% and test again. Rinse repeat with stance, enchant, hexed etc. Also make sure that the req needed for that weapon is at 0 so your not dealing with high numbers.

Wow, this is an extremely good find. I'm going to check all of my Un IDed items in storage now. Wow...so that sort of stinks when you buy a 100k gold Un IDed storm bow, or fellblade, just to find a terrible mod on it. Very nice info, very helpful. This should be stickied.

Damage mods on a weapon are easy to detect goto the isle of the nameless with a warrior with exactly 12 weapons mastery 0 strength equip Wild Blow.
a max +15% weapons should Critical for the following:

Sword: 36
Axe: 45
Hammer: 57

You should be able to figure out the any damage mod if you know a critical is about 41% more damage.
